Frequently Asked
Questions
What is computer
room cleaning?
The
removal of dust, debris, static and other contaminants from the
computer environment followed by antistatic treatment.
Why do we
need our computer room cleaned?
I.T.
industry research has concluded that around 70% of hardware &
storage failure are caused by environmental factors such as humidity,
room temperature and dust particles (concrete dust, carbon dust,
metallic dust and paper dust etc.). These are just some of the elements
that threaten computer mainframe and storage equilibrium.
What are
the benefits of computer room cleaning?
A
structured environmental cleaning programme, normally quarterly
or six-monthly, would help to keep dust and static levels to a minimum
within your I.T. facility. Lower dust and static levels would in
turn result in reduced failure rate, consistent availability of
data and greater reliability and productivity. There are also aesthetic
benefits of a regular programme - a cleaner environment for staff
and visitors.

Will our
day to day operations be affected during the Procare service?
Not
at all. 99% of Procare services are undertaken in 'live' environments.
All Procare staff are fully trained to be aware of potential hazards
within sensitive areas. We always err on the side of safety and
will ensure that your operations will continue to run smoothly whilst
the clinical clean and antistatic treatments are in progress. Steps
will be taken to ensure that temperature and humidity levels remain
consistant.
Can we utilise our site office cleaners to decontaminate our
computer room?
Yes
you could, but this would not be advisable. Our advice is to beware
of office cleaning companies who say they can undertake sensitive
area cleaning. Computer room cleaning and office cleaning are very
differant operations. The techniques, disciplines, equipment and
materials utilised when servicing computer rooms are not the same
as those of office cleaning.
How can we
justify the extra cost of an environmental cleaning programme?
'Downtime can cost between £50,000 and £500,000
an HOUR' - IBM TODAY. Compared to these
costs, the cost of a structured environmental cleaning programme
is negligible.
How can we
obtain a quotation of costs for an environmental clean of our computer
room or data centre?
Contact us today and our Operations Manager will arrange to
survey your facility and provide you with a detailed report on the
area condition with an itemised quotation to bring the room up to
'installation standard'. The survey, survey report and quotation
will be provided FREE OF CHARGE.
